Sunday Worship

Worship That Nourishes the Soul

At the heart of everything we do is our Sunday gathering — a time to step away from the rush of daily life and encounter the sacred in community with others.

Whether you are a longtime churchgoer or attending for the very first time, you will find a worship experience that is warm, sincere, and deeply connected to the real concerns and joys of life in rural Ontario.

We honour our rich Methodist and United Church heritage while remaining open to fresh expressions of worship that speak to contemporary lives. Scripture, prayer, music, and fellowship form the heartbeat of our weekly gathering.

When We Gather

Our doors are open and our welcome is genuine. Please check with us for seasonal adjustments to the schedule.

Sunday Morning Service

10:30 AM

Our main weekly worship gathering. All are welcome. Includes scripture, prayer, music, sermon, and communion on the first Sunday of each month.

Seasonal Services

Special Events

We hold special services throughout the year: Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, and more. See our events for upcoming dates.

Music & Choir

Ongoing

Music is central to our worship life. Our choir and musicians lead us in hymns both classic and contemporary. All musical gifts are welcome — contact us to participate.

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." Colossians 3:16

What to Expect When You Visit

We know that entering a new church for the first time can feel uncertain. Here is what you can expect when you join us.

A Warm Welcome

You will be greeted at the door by friendly members of our congregation. There is no pressure to participate in anything you are not comfortable with — simply come and be present.

Scripture & Sermon

Each service includes readings from the Bible, a thoughtful sermon that connects ancient wisdom to contemporary life, and space for personal reflection and community response.

Music & Hymnody

Music is woven throughout the service — from traditional hymns beloved for generations to newer songs of praise. Words are provided so everyone can participate at whatever level feels comfortable.

Fellowship & Coffee

After the service, we gather for coffee and conversation — one of the most treasured parts of our Sunday routine. It is a time for old friends to reconnect and new visitors to feel the genuine warmth of this community.

Celebrating the sacraments at West Oxford United Church

Marking the Sacred Moments of Life

The United Church celebrates two sacraments: Holy Communion and Baptism. We also conduct services of marriage, memorial, and dedication.

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and at special services throughout the year. The table is open to all who seek the presence of Christ — there are no prerequisites or membership requirements to receive communion here.

Baptism is offered to infants and adults and may be arranged by contacting our minister. We also offer services of blessing and dedication for families in various circumstances.

Pastoral rites — weddings, memorial services, and celebrations of life — may be conducted by arrangement. Please reach out to discuss your needs.

A Church for Everyone

We are committed to making our worship services accessible to all people. We are continually working to improve physical accessibility and to ensure that everyone who wants to worship with us is able to do so comfortably.

If you have specific accessibility needs or questions about our facilities, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance of your visit. We want to ensure that your experience is as positive and welcoming as possible.

Children are warmly welcomed in our services. We believe that children belong in worship — their energy, curiosity, and openness is a gift to the whole congregation. A Sunday School program runs concurrently with the worship service for younger children.
